One of the toughest competitors in professional chuckwagon racing today, Jamie christened at the Calgary Stampede’s centennial celebration of chuckwagon racing in 2023 by breaking the track record on opening night, and for the third time had a horse named to the Calgary Stampede Equine Athlete of Excellence. In just his first full season on the WPCA Pro Tour, Jamie captured the Medicine Hat Stampede and the Battle of the Foothills, made the semi-final round at the Ponoka Stampede, and was tops in the overall aggregate at the Battle of the Foothills and the Battle of the North. He qualified for four championship final heats at Medicine Hat, High River, Dawson Creek and the Century Downs “WINNER’S ZONE” Championship at the WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals. He finished the season as the reserve world champion in one of the closest races in World Championship history.

Jamie’s career began on the CPCA circuit where he was the CPCA’s High Point Driver in 2022, the Top Rookie Driver in 2006, and twice was the CPCA’s All Around Champion, and was the Calgary Stampede’s Safety Award winner in 2015. As an outrider, Jamie was a Rangeland Derby Champion Outrider in 2009, a Calgary Stampede Aggregate Champion Outrider in 2010, and the CPCA’s Top Rookie Outrider in 2002.

Jamie is the son of former driver Brian Laboucane, and is the brother-in-law of former driver B.J. Carey and outrider Mick Nolin. Jamie and his wife Dana have 2 children – Oliver and Ella, and make their home in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan.
